In consideration of the mutual covenants and conditions herein contained, Lees-McRae College and Student agree as follows:

AGREEMENT:
This COVID-19 Residence Life Commitment (the “Commitment”) is an addendum to the Housing Agreement 2021-2022 (“Housing Agreement”), which terms remain in effect except to the extent those terms are expressly modified by this Commitment. The student indicates his/her acceptance of the terms of this Commitment via the Student’s signature on the Housing Agreement and below. No term or condition of this Commitment or the Housing Agreement can be waived without the written agreement of Lees-McRae College and Student, and no oral statement made by Lees-McRae College or its agents or employees is considered a waiver of any term or condition of those agreements.

Lees-McRae College’s agreement to provide housing for the student on campus is based upon availability. At its sole discretion, Lees-McRae College may deny or limit access to housing to students for safety or health reasons, or other reasonable causes.

Lees-McRae College reserves the right, upon reasonable notice and for good cause, to cancel the Housing Agreement or change a student’s assignment in the interest of health/sanitation, governmental directives, or as considered necessary for the health, welfare, and safety of the campus community.

At all times during the period of the Housing Agreement between Lees-McRae College and the Student and during Student’s residence on campus, the Student agrees to comply with the COVID-19 Policies and Protocols issued by Lees-McRae College, which are posted on the College’s website at: www.lmc.edu/about/covid-19/index.htm. These COVID-19 Policies and Protocols are subject to change depending upon orders and guidance from local, state, and federal health officials. Lees-McRae College reserves the right to change the COVID-19 Policies and Protocols without notice to the Student. By signing this Commitment, the Student agrees to regularly check the website for changes to the COVID-19 Policies and Protocols and understands that the Student is responsible for following the current version of the COVID-19 Policies and Protocols as reflected on the College’s website.

PERIOD OF AGREEMENT:
THE HOUSING AGREEMENT APPLIES FOR THE FALL 2021 AND SPRING 2022 ACADEMIC TERMS.

If the Student is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is otherwise expected to isolate or quarantine pursuant to the Covid-19 Policies and Procedures, the Student must follow the College’s COVID-19 Policies and Protocols for isolation and quarantine, including vacating their on-campus housing in order to isolate or quarantine at their permanent residence, if their permanent address is within 350 miles of campus, or by making other arrangements with the College or in the community, if their permanent residence is more than 350 miles away from campus. If the Student is unable to return to their permanent address and requires an accommodation, the Student must contact the Director of Residence Life for the requested accommodation.  The Student may be required to provide documentation to further support the request of the accommodation. The Student is expected to vacate their campus housing to follow isolation and quarantine protocols as soon as reasonably practicable, but in no event later than 48 hours after receipt of notice of a positive test or diagnosis or of any other condition that triggers the need to isolate or quarantine. This requirement that the student vacate campus housing to follow isolation and quarantine protocols does not terminate the Housing Agreement.

OCCUPANCY:
Occupancy is defined by issuance of a key to the student for a specified residential building and does not require actual physical presence by the student and his/her possessions. The Student’s campus housing is still considered to be “occupied” by the Student while the Student is following isolation or quarantine protocols.

TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT BY Lees-McRae College:
Lees-McRae College reserves the right to terminate the Housing Agreement due to violations of College policies or the Code of Conduct, including Lees-McRae College’s Covid-19 Policies and Protocols; or for other reasonable cause in the interest of health/sanitation, governmental directives, or as considered necessary for the health, welfare, and safety of the campus community.

Upon termination of the Housing Agreement, Lees-McRae College allows a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours to vacate and check out of the premises. Notice of termination will be delivered to the student’s email address as listed above.

ADDITIONAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES for Campus Housing:
Important additional policies and procedures related to mitigating the spread of COVID-19 within the campus community and which are required in Campus Housing are listed below. To the extent these procedures are inconsistent with those listed on Lees-McRae College’s website at www.lmc.edu/about/covid-19/index.htm, please follow the College’s COVID-19 Policies and Protocols as set forth on the College’s website.

  • All students must follow campus policies and procedures as published in the Student Handbook, in addition to the Covid-19 Policies and Protocols as published on the College’s website. Lees-McRae College reserves the right to make changes in the provisions of the Student Handbook and the Covid-19 Policies and Protocols to ensure the welfare of the college community.
  • Residents are encouraged to conduct a daily self-assessment prior to the start of the workday, classes, or other educational activities on campus. The daily self-assessment form can be found here.
  • As a COVID-19 addendum to our college visitation policy, only Lees-McRae College students are eligible as guests. Parents may visit students in the lobbies of residence halls or within the living rooms of apartments, villages, and houses for two hours. Parents may not visit students’ assigned rooms. The College reserves the right to make changes to the Visitation Policy, which will be reflected in the Student Handbook and on the College’s website.
  • If a student has a permanent address within a 350-mile radius of Lees-McRae College and tests positive for or is exposed to COVID-19, the student will be asked to travel to that permanent address for quarantine and isolation housing. Students whose permanent address is beyond a 350-mile radius of Lees-McRae College will be encouraged to seek quarantine and isolation housing at an off-campus location within the local community.
  • Lees-McRae College may provide quarantine and isolation housing for students who do not have access to quarantine and isolation housing within a 350-mile radius or need reasonable accommodations.
  • Campus dining will operate as scheduled by the College. Lees-McRae College may adjust dining services as needed.
  • Students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors are expected to wear face coverings indoors. This includes visiting in and between student rooms.
  • Violations of these policies or other student conduct policies in our Student Handbook will result in a student referral to the Office of Student Conduct.

ABANDONED PROPERTY:
Residents are responsible for all personal belongings. Students should appropriately donate or dispose of any unwanted items at the end of the Housing Agreement. Items found in student spaces at the conclusion of the Housing Agreement will be categorized as abandoned property and handled accordingly. Perishable items will be bagged and disposed. Items will be stored for 30 days after the current year housing agreement ends. After 30 days, the Student Affairs Office will be authorized to remove and donate any item including bicycles. Other items will be disposed of or auctioned as determined by the Student Affairs office.

RIGHT OF ENTRY:
Lees-McRae College reserves the right to enter student rooms as outlined in the Student Handbook and Housing Agreement. In addition to the conditions listed in the Student Handbook and Housing Agreement, Lees-McRae College may enter the Student’s rooms to monitor compliance with this Commitment and the COVID-19 Policies and Protocols. The Student acknowledges that the Student is not required to be present at the time of entry and is not entitled to any prior notice of entry. The Office of Campus Safety and Security is available 24/7 at (828) 898-8756.
